Mr. Ghost
As an attorney in the city something I would like to bring up or discuss that has been an issue in my eyes is how the BSCO and LSPD handle certain situations. If a client is actively working with an attorney police shouldn’t be able to go arrest said client as soon as an attorney approaches about a warrant. I’ve had multiple situations where I’ve approached the police about a warrant and they go immediately arrest my client. I would like DOJ and the police force to work together and not against each other because it seems like it’s become a constant battle and makes our jobs feel less valuable when the police aren’t RPing out scenarios as they would play out in the real world. Certain situations can play out a lot more civilized with an attorney and putting everyone’s lives at risk and causing violent shootouts over something an attorney can solve is a change I would love to see! Brendan Thomson
There is currently no legal basis for your demands - if you wish to speak to police about your clients charges or warrants I would suggest doing so at a police station, with your client not present, or in cells with them present and in custody. It is unlikely that you are going to be able to turn a warrant in to a slap on the wrist on the side of the road, and its unreasonable to expect police to do it there as the situation is likely not going to be safe for them. Police should be more than willing to negotiate and discuss these issues with you at a police station, so I encourage you to do it there, and if you are still experiencing issues with police not working with you, submit an IA request to the relevant department/(s).
NewportReb
There are IC ways to figure out how to solve this. Try asking other lawyers how they handle situations.
