Rex Thunderslap
How does the idea of Probation sound? Clean up piles of trash or repair various things around town? Sound better than sitting in prison? I think so. Instead of jail, someone could get probation time. This could be a forced "job" where they are tasked with a set number of jobs or an amount of time. They cannot do anything else until their probationary jobs/time are completed. They cannot drive, change clothes, gather/harvest/etc. anything, and they are forced to wear a bright orange jumpsuit. They could be given a bicycle or maybe have "Probationary Officers" drive them around to each job. This can be for a set amount of time and each completed job decreases the timer or a set number of jobs to complete. Thoughts?
Guest
This sounds like a really good idea to be honest. Like you say, it is much better than sitting around in prison and gives you something to do whilst giving back to the people of Los Santos. Â To be fair, it's quite easy to do as well, I think the only thing that might not work and might have to have the same approach the EMS and Police have to changing clothes, is a circle that changes your clothes, or maybe forgo the changing clothes, otherwise, it shouldn't be that hard, and would be a nice addition. Â Either way, few different emotes to simulate something happening and give feedback to the player something is happening.
Merr Khan
I like the idea of Probation on Parole, Were after you get out of prison you can't buy a gun, can't harvest drugs, can't drive a car, can't rob a store, can't go hunting for x amount of time. Would have to get a real (legal) job and use the taxi system or bike. The issue of punishment not matching the crimes has been brought up many times, but the Gov has stated multiple times they do not want to tie up a server slots with people sitting in prison for long times, I for one don't see the difference between a punk kid sitting in jail and that same punk kid causing mayhem on the street, still a server slot taken up. But at least in prison they aren't causing mayhem.  But if we could add in that on release from prison they would be on parole for the same amount of time or double that time, so 30 min prison is 30-60 min probation after parole. It would help balance the crime and time, and make the punishment matter. Without tying up server slot AFK in prison, they can return to society to become a positive member while learning how to behave. I recently just spent 30 min in prison, no big deal turn on the T.V. and watch that show you been waiting to watch, before its over bam your back on the streets, but if there was probation you would either have to sit there doing nothing till it runs out or go and behave.   Last though on this is how to identify someone on parole, not so much of a deal for civilians, but IRL police would know who is on parole or not, so how to make it visible to police.... Add it to the ID info when they hand it over? prob too hard. Make their number red above their heads during probation? This way if a cop see's a person known to be on probation beating up locals they would get arrested with mandatory prison time (new charge - violation of probation) and more probation.       Edited December 22, 2017 by Merr Kahn
Doc
That has a lot of potential. If the job of parolee if forced on a player it could easily be made where he has to be at the parole office every x amount of minutes after his release to check in with his PO. If the person fails to check in it could put up a map marker similar to the vehicle tracker stating someone is violating their parolee. You know, because the devs don't already have enough work
