Ren Yates
Hey folks. Kinda want to see what everyone else thought about changing the Trucking industry just a little bit. First off, I would like to be able for it be more realistic for both the drivers as well as the police. As a truck driver IRL there could be some more realism added here that would benefit everyone tbh. Now, the first thing I would like to see is Commercial drivers licenses (CDL). Usually with these in order to get them you must pass a written test and a road test. However I think a sperate written test would be sufficient here in the server. Also being able to have a medical clearance for the license as well and must provide it when getting pulled over. Now this would fill into my next ideas as well. Commercial Vehicle Enforcement. This would allow a division in the LSPD and the BCSO to be able to conduct more thorough inspection of trucks and to regulate safe driving for both the driver as well as being safe for others on the road. Some of the things below would be some ideas to both help the Semi Industry as well as promote more RP with Truckers and LEO. Increased pay for loads. One time $5,000 CDL license fee (Unless Revoked 24 Hour Cooldown) Higher fines if caught breaking the law while in Commercial Vehicle. (To offset higher payout) 3 reckless driving charges or Mis/Fel speeding tickets in an 8 hour window will lose your license for 24 hours. Random Vehicle inspections Make some residential roads not open to commercial vehicles. (ie. Vinewood hills) Must have a Medical License from EMS to have CDL. Must not be on drugs at the time of medical evaluation. If found to be on drugs, 24 hour waiting period. Get Bill of Lading with loads when they are picked up automatically and removed when dropped off. Randomly generated info and time stamp. A lot of these ideas would require some dev work and approval, but I would like to see everyone elses ideas on how we can improve this and expand on it as well.

Norton
I would say for random inspections for the opportunity for an illegal factor to be implemented into the rework which would give higher pay than the legal for risk and reward but also a chance to lose their CDL and have the truck seized/impounded extra. Overall though +1

Overall though +1 LOL You know everyone will be opting for the illegal loads from the start. Penalties for illegal runs should probably be quite steep, and equal, or worse than felony speeding in a truck, which is scary when they come by Hayes Auto @ mach2. Should maybe have some probable cause and/or discretion on pullovers to check for illegal runs. Maybe have to catch a trucker speeding or some other illegal activity first, then search their load? This would also stop people from renting their trucks to Danny's that don't care or are not invested in the city. +1

Will we really do that over a simple speeding? not really, unless it's a special case. Adding a more define definition as to why, you are able to get probable cause for that vehicle search or of said persons, whould be appreciated as you stated. +1 for the whole idea though

They can pull you over on the side of the road and say, I want to do an inspection of your vehicle. This is also federal law as well in the US. This is why there is truck stops with inspection stations throughout the country. I do agree there should be higher fines for these when operating a commercial vehicle. This would be up to the DOJ to see what they would like to see. The thing about Illegal loads is you wont know which one is legal and illegal until you get it. However to counter this, there would be a cool down so people dont just ditch their loads until they get an illegal one. I believe there is already a cooldown in place for this as well.
TexWinchester
These changes would definitely stop everyone from just W keying from point to point. Might I also suggest adding in a cooldown on the spawning of trailers? Have seen a lot of trailer pile ups recently. Adding a cooldown would likely prevent it. Also would be kind of nice but not necassary to allow truckers to qualify for the legal use of a shotgun for defending their vehicles. With the increased gang related violence in the city, would definitely make me feel more at ease knowing I can properly defend myself if needed. Â Overall +1 to the thoughts Edited December 4, 2021 by TexWinchester

Overall +1 to the thoughts Thats actually not a bad Idea as well. I know there used to be a cooldown timer for the trailer spawns at one point but maybe it was removed? Also, normally under federal law in the US, Weapons are strictly forbidden in commercial vehicles. However seeing how this is BL maybe there could be. But nothing is stopping you from using or having a pistol on you. Why a Shotgun if you dont mind me asking?

Well the origin of riding shotgun was from when the 2nd guy on the gold/money wagons was there he was normally armored with a shotgun. I think it seems fitting since our trucks are like modern day money wagons. Not to mention, most times if someone wants to rob ur truck they have to get close as the windows are darked. keen distance for a shotgun

TexWinchester
I realize something as of today tho. We need to figure out a way to slow our trucks down. just because speeding is a punishment doesnt mean it is always enforced. so maybe with a ticket system of deliveries there can be a minimum contract time to try and slow people down. there is no reason for our trucks to be flying through the city at 80-100 MPH

Perhaps phrase it in a way that the recipient needs to complete the paperwork or come to the office before the shipment can be received. It could also be done sneakily by increasing the cooldown on accepting jobs, no point in zooming to your destination if you're just going to have to wait another 5 minutes to start the next job.
NewportReb
So I went trucking the other night for the first time in months just to kind of get a sense of trucking in its current state. Honestly, even though I dont drive a truck often, the ideas Ren proposed would add greatly to the trucking job and give more RP than the occasional pit stop. Huge +1 to the OP 1

Maybe have see how long it takes to point a to point b based on distance doing the limit and obeying traffic laws. The longer the better, but if it takes longer than say 10 minutes to drive 2 miles, then you lose money. You gotta get that sweet spot. But if you finish 2 miles in 2 minutes you get like half of the payout. Not sure if that is something the devs can do or not.  22 hours ago, Yama said: I really like that idea. This is kinda something I was thinking about as well. Maybe if you go to an office location it gives you paperwork and a trailer with a timestamp on it. Drop a trailer in an area and turn in the paperwork and it disappears the trailer and you get paid. I kinda like that idea as well.

That might be a thing as I am not sure how the tow truck script works. Not sure if it can be added to the semi's and trailers. Edited December 21, 2021 by Ren Yates
