Randy Jones
Very simple and easy explanation for why I think police should have access to a Slim Jim/lockpick. When tow drivers try to put a npc vehicle on their bed when it's locked, even if it's been tagged for tow it seems not to work. I could be wrong but the other day after lockpicking a local vehicle that had been owned the tow driver was then able to put it onto his bed.
Yama
Lockpicks are pretty much a necessity for Tow truck workers. I feel like it would be more useful for the Tow companies to have the tool, but I can see how that could be easily abused.
Erwin
I can confirm that tow truck drivers usually have to lockpick the vehicle if it's not unlocked otherwise it will not go onto the truck. We have to atleast get in the car and move the steering wheel a bit just like mechanics have to.
Randy Jones
That's why if PD just does it with a Slim Jim it wouldn't put out a vehicle break in call and there would be no confusion
Samantha Hatfield
Personally against it, as the Tow truck driver could bring more RP into trying to get into the said vehicle using said Slim Jim/lockpick. And provide more of a interaction with the LEO base of the city.
Storrent
I feel like this is a bandaid on top of a system that's been broken for long enough that we just choose to shrug it off as "it is what it is." Why not take another look at the system for towing and see if there's a way to prevent having to get into the vehicle in the first place? If it's not possible, though, I believe it would be a fine enough addition to the police arsenal. Giving it to tow truckers would be fine as well, so long as license revocations are being kept on top of by the server staff team.
tay
I constantly carry lockpicks while on duty as in a lot of cases they are needed. Just one example being, individual shoots at police, evades in his car, rams police, he get's caught, we searched the trunk but his car is locked, so lockpick the car and check the glovebox/inside of the vehicle.
Kathryn Davies
I carry lockpicks anyways, but maybe having a legal form for police to make use of would be cool.
