Josie
Due to the difficulty of actually subduing people in the water and the fact people treat it unrealistically (Diving off the pier, swimming out into the ocean forever) I believe this rule would be helpful in several scenarios. Suggested wording: Water evasion- A player cannot evade in water that requires swimming to cross without using a boat/jet ski that was already available for use (not to be pulled from a garage upon arrival) OR without equipping scuba gear prior to entering the water.
Infinity
While i do agree to this to an extent i believe "Diving into Water" is the bigger problem than water evasion, more so the height at which someone dives from and the depth of what they are diving into (I.E someone diving off a 5-6 story apartment building and flopping into a 5 foot deep pool and then running away, should be considered FailRP, bc no one is gonna survive a dive like that). Yama
I can't say that I've experienced this issue enough to have a strong opinion either way, but a rule against touching water when you're evading police seems a little excessive (even with the exceptions). I dunno
Denver
It's just that chasing a suspect in water by means of swimming and diving is annoying, and will take too long. So unless a water vehicle is involved, water should not be used to evade.
Rizz
To fix the height problem, it might be possible to detected the time of fall to hitting water, and can cause a broken leg or something along those lines. I dunno Not saying to not touch water at all, but it's not exactly realistic to swim away a long route in the ocean to get away, and it's a way to address the closure of the pier to drug sellers as people were complaining about. Those people saying they'd rather a rule about it than the blocking of sales period is what led to this post. Also, one of the easily most annoying things that has happened on duty was a guy legit swimming to the middle of the alamo sea then swimming in circles because he knew what cops can do is limited in that situation. I am glad there's not that many obnoxious people out there lol.

If a swim purist takes a long time than an officer/deputy can radio to a CPL+(or maybe a SGT+) to get approve to wack a suspect in the water with baton to subdue him. Yama
That makes sense, there's a fine line between providing extensive chase RP and just wasting everyone's time and patience. It might be too meta to ask, but what are the PD protocols for pursuing suspects in the water? It might be worth developing further SOPs that would help make water pursuit less annoying. (Edit: you beat me to it!) It does seem like a very situational issue, I don't think you would have an issue reporting those overly obnoxious players for disruptive behavior. I just think a swimming ban doesn't really sit right. Perhaps it's just too broad of a rule. I mean, I already misinterpreted it. Mia
While there is no sop specifically for people who swim forever, through word of mouth, yes we will beat your ass if you do the endless swim into the ocean or circles. On a staff level, yes we will and have addressed the issue with players who do this, feel free to report them. Our rule list is long. It can be endlessly long if we add all the specific situations that are cheesy/annoying/powergamey etc At some point we expect players to show some common sense, and if they don't have that understanding in the fivem world for which a lot of players are new, staff spends a lot of time trying to help them understand. So while I'm not personally for more rules, it will be discussed. Also @Infinity , that jump into the pool was like out of a movie and I would've jumped after him screaming the whole way down
Infinity
@Mia fair point, lol. but with my experience and jumping from roofs its 50/50 of whether imma stay in a jumping animation or switch to the free fall animation and just slam into that pool, hahaha. I didn't wanna take the chance.

It just honestly seemed like what people were arguing for to happen in lieu of removing drug sales at the pier for instance. My personal thought is it could be bundled as failrp and left as that, with maybe an honorable mention that we’re not all Michael Phelps so don’t be ridiculous.
