Renaming the "mechanic" job to something less confusing

Makes sense and tbh not sure why it took so long for someone to bring it up. Its very confusing for new people, they waste money on a mechanic kit thinking its to fix cars and then they can't. Should have been changed when the Car Mechanic job came out

Funny I was just thinking this last night. Engineer or Technician would make a lot more sense

Would be nice to see some more variety of jobs for them as well. For example, repairing Pylons, maybe a callout to an Office block or something.

Ok, maybe I'm confused? Do you want the Mechanic who repairs cars to be renamed to Engineer who repairs cars? and in the comments of your Yes vote, you say to name them Engineer Kits to sound less like they are for cars? cause repair kit sounds like what they are intended for.

I mean where I'm from mechanics repair cars in garages now there are specialist mechanics that work on certain areas of cars i.e. like transmission, brakes but there still mechanics. I guess I don't know why you want to call them Engineer to make it less confusing? Maybe you need to elaborate

Currently the "mechanics" you see at car repair shops are having to clock on as a "towtruck" job. "Mechanic" is misleading because this job specifically goes around the map repairing things like windmills and is a quest-like job. It has nothing to do with the actual mechanic position at a mechanic shop.

People just want to reword it so it's not so confusing to what each role does.

Ok, understand but I dont think Engineer title would be correct rather than what it is Mechanic or Towtruck/Mechanic

Right now when you go to the Job Center the "Mechanic" job is fixing the windmills and satellite dishes..I think they want that job and is Kits changed to "Engineer"

I am suggesting that the job that has you going around satellites and wind turbines is renamed "engineer"

I am not suggesting any change to the car fixing or tow truck

I would suggest "Repairman" or "Repair Technician" rather than Engineer. But I fully support the idea.

Wish I could change my answer, interpreted it as changing the towtruck job to engineering. 

Agree 100%, definitely should be changed, just creates alot of confusion for people that are not yet seasoned.

At first I was confused, too, because I automatically presumed that renaming the "mechanic" job was implying the actual car mechanic / tow truck service. In reference to the city jobs (repairing turbines, digging up street signs, etc), yes, I agree. It should not be called "mechanic".

I'm all for it! I can't count the amount of time's Ive seen mechanics working at a shop thinking they're clocked in but only having the tool kit on them, lol.

Mechanics / Tow Trucks - Fix Cars at Shops & provides towing services
Engineer - Fixes Satellites & Windmills, or simply remove entirely or add more locations
